UPDATE: Summer Road Trip Event Adds Tesla's Cybertruck To Both Fortnite And Rocket League
Sure...why not...it was only a matter of time, right?
Cue the eye rolling now. Honestly, adding Tesla's Cybertruck to Fortnite and Rocket League was probably just a matter of time, right? Once the battle royale got a racing mode, it was only a question of how big the check was going to be to get the advertising added to Fortnite and my favorite "sports" game right now.
On the Rocket League side of things you'll have to work your way through 3 phases of the summer event to unlock the Cybertruck and all the extras. Challenge 1 starts today and you'll need to just play 8 matches to net yourself the wheels. Play 8 more online matches with said wheels equipped starting on the 26th and you'll get the boost. Finally, equip the boost and play 5 matches in a party after July 31st and you'll get the grand prize: the Cybertruck itself (Hybrid hitbox), a full stash of decals, engine audio, and a topper.
Hitting up the battle royale, Fortnite will enable a new Summer Road Trip Quest. Complete 9 of these quests between today and July 31st and you'll get the keys to a Cybertruck bundle containing the "SUV" type vehicle itself, some decals, and some wheels. Quests alternate between earning a certain amount of XP in Creator maps and earning XP in other modes (including the battle royale mode).
Cross game ownership is enabled in both titles so you don't have to earn the Cybertruck in both, just one game, if that's all you're after. Many of these items will also be made available in each game's cash shop after the events close on August 6th.
UPDATE 7/26/2024: Turns out that even employees hate this collaboration.
