Stormgate's F2P Early Access Kicks Off Tomorrow, Head Start Reviews Still Mixed
It hasn't been all sunshine and roses so far, but the RTS opens up to a larger audience tomorrow.
If you purchased one of Stormgate's bundles, you've probably been trying out the real-time strategy game for the last few days. You may even be one of the many leaving rather mixed reviews on Steam right now. It appears things are a bit dicey in the game so far.
After having promised to give backers the next hero launched since they were upset at a hero being in the store from day one, the team has been working on stablizing servers and laying out the road for development thoughtout early access.
In addition to reviews dinging the fact that you cannot play offline, the campaign also shows up in reviews as a shortcoming of the anticipated title. According to the team, the road ahead will be filled with not only additions, but also improvements. Of particular note are the models of characters looking a bit, well, spikey. In a blog from the team, they say this, and other things, will continue to be improved, but it will take some time with a smaller team.
I'll be checking the game out tomorrow, but I'm not sure what to expect given the reviews. I think I may end up agreeing with others who think the game is going to EA too early. Let me know what you think below.
If you want some Twitch drops, here's how to get them from the team.
