During The Game Awards show this year, Wargaming debuted their latest warfare strategy game Steel Hunters. Fans of tanks, ships, or planes need to take a backseat on this one as the the upcoming F2P game is actually a mech-based hero shooter.

At the awards, the team announce a PC playtest that went live as the show aired. That test ran for 10 days and pulled in some interesting stats that the team shared via an infographic as they set the stage for what's to come in 2025. Clocking in with just shy of 55K battles played, the test also saw over 700K hunters killed and over 2 million drones destroyed. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

As 2025 nears, the team has multiple tests planned with exclusive content planned for some of those tests. If you're looking for some lore, you'll be getting that too. It'll come by way of video drops looking at specific lore and behind-the-scenes footage. This all paves the way for the game's scheduled open beta which will drop sometime in 2025.

While the game's FAQ still says that Steel Hunters is a PC-only game, I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually made its way to consoles like other Wargaming titles. However, you can wishlist it now on Steam.
