STO: Ascension Welcomes Wil Wheaton's Wesley Crusher When New Mirror Universe Chapter Launches Next Week
Upcoming "Eye of the Storm" episode introduces new story, event, 5-player ground TFO, and more.
Star Trek Online, the free-to-play MMORPG by Cryptic Studios and Gearbox Publishing, has revealed Ascension as the next chapter in the Mirror Universe story arc coming on September 13 for PC, later for consoles. Paramount Plus debuted an exclusive new trailer for the content update during Star Trek Day, too, revealing Wil Wheaton respiring his role as Wesley Crusher, the mirrored version of the game's Terran Emperor.
The upcoming featured episode named "Eye of the Storm" introduces plenty of fresh content for players to discover. It includes 5-player ground TFO "Storm Chasers," the new Elite Officer Upgrade System that allows players to become Bridge Officers, and "The Emperor's Will" event that rewards fans with a T6 Terran Somerville starship. According to the devs, more details on what else is coming will drop on release day, but we know the threats players will face in the latest chapter.
Wil Wheaton returns as Wesley Crusher but steps into the shoes of the Terran Emperor for the game, seeking to control The Other: a mirror version of a dangerous entity juiced up with power called V'ger.
The identity of the Terran Emperor has been a well-kept secret for strategic reasons and, when found out in-game, forces players to team up with former enemy-turned-ally Admiral Leeta (voiced by Chase Masterson from Deep Space Nine). With the dreaded Captain Killy (voiced by Mary Wiseman from Discovery) as the Terran Emperor's right hand, players will have to stop them from controlling The Other due to the threat it imposes on both the Prime and Mirror Universes.
If you're knee-deep in the Mirror Universe story arc, are you excited for a returning legend to voice the Terran Emperor and the new content next week? Let us know below!
