Standalone Version Of GTA Online Coming To PS5 In Late 2021, Will Be Free For First Three Months
If you missed out on your chance to grab Grand Theft Auto V for free from the Epic Games Store a few weeks ago, you'll have another chance to grab it ... in late 2021. On the PlayStation 5. And, it's only GTA Online. And the offer's only good for three months.
Rockstar Games has announced that it will create a standalone version of Grant Theft Auto Online, alongside the main game's launch on PlayStation 5, in late 2021. GTA Online "will be available for free exclusively for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months." That statement isn't clear, however, as to whether this means GTA Online will be free only during those three months or, if you claim it during those three months, you'll keep it free forever.
Either way -- and all earlier caveats aside -- it's a good deal for players and a solid idea for Rockstar. It'll help boost GTA Online presence on the new console and might encourage players to check out the full game -- and unlike on PCs, hacking and cheating from all the free accounts should be less of an issue on the PS5.
