Just A Few Weeks Ahead Of Their Planned Date, Stampede: Racing Royale Delays Early Access To 2024
Sumo wants more time to ensure the game is what it’s meant to be.
Today, Sumo Digital and Secret Mode announced that they would be pushing back the Early Access date for Stampede: Racing Royale. The racing/battle royale game was expected to enter Early Access on November 2. However, because the developer wants to make sure the game “aligns with what [players] want to see”, they’ve chosen to push it back into 2024. Specifically, sometime in the first half of 2024. We know that’s a pretty big window.
According to the press release, there are a lot of additions and improvements that are important to Early Access and they’re all being worked on now. Not all of them are up to par, and wouldn’t be by the November 2 date. The press release also notes that the decision was made with the team in mind. As it notes, Sumo cares about the well-being of its employees, so they don’t intend to force them into crunch time in order to meet the deadline.
That said, the developers are taking player feedback seriously and it should be reflected when the game launches. In the meantime, Sumo will continue to communicate with players and are looking at running additional playtests.
