Square Enix Licenses Dungeon Siege To The Sandbox Metaverse
The Sandbox bills itself as "a continuous shared digital space where worlds and heroes collide to make magic."
Square Enix might not be diving as headlong into NFTs as it initially hinted at, but it's being linked to one blockchain-based project. Today it was announced that the Dungeon Siege IP would be adapted for The Sandbox metaverse, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands.
Dungeon Siege Land will "empower players to craft their own personal adventures opens an exciting new chapter for the franchise," said Square Enix Director of Business Development Hideaki Uehara. The Sandbox bills itself as "The Open NFT Metaverse" where you can "Create, play and monetize your creations in the blockchain."
In early February, it announced a similar deal with Ubisoft to incorporate its Rabbids franchise into The Sandbox. In that press release, the Sandbox was described as "Part virtual real estate, part amusement park, The Sandbox fully embraces the idea of the metaverse as a continuous shared digital space where worlds and heroes collide to make magic."
