Foamstars PlayStation Launch

PlayStation fans will soon be able to check out Square Enix’s 4v4 foam party shooter, Foamstars. Today, the developer announced plans to bring the game to PlayStation 4 and 5 on February 6.

At launch it will be part of the monthly lineup on PlayStation Plus, giving everyone a chance to try it out. Once downloaded via PS+, those players will be able to keep playing the game as long as they have their subscription. Subscribed players have until March 4 to download the game. After that, they’ll have to pay $30 to obtain the game. Yes, a sub is still required to play it.

The game will feature three modes at launch, Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival, and Rubber Duck Party. All the modes have three maps which are randomized for matchmaking.

The game will also introduce PvE activities tasking players with protecting Bath Vegas in different missions. These will also help players prep for competitive PvP matches.

Foamstars does contain AI generated art. Square Enix confirmed to VGC that the company wanted to "experiment" with AI and while most of the art is hand created, there is "about 0.01%" of the content that was created using AI.
