Spring Comes To DC Universe Online, Get New Rewards For Saying "Hi" To Poison Ivy (Or Swamp Thing)
A new Iconic Ability and spring-themed aura are available if you like throwing poison around.
Today is kind of a terrible day to be covering MMORPG news. Q has been adding to a piece all day that recaps the sheer amount of "April Fools' Day" pranks and events in MMOs. Honestly, it's kind of annoying having to dig into every press release to determine if it's legit or not. Luckily, for DC Universe Online fans, this new event is not a prank, the event just happens to start on April Fools' Day today.
Poison Ivy is quite happy right now as spring begins to blossom and villains are called to help her paint the town green. Heroes, you have to go deal with Swamp Thing instead. Thems the breaks, I guess. Running until April 28th, the event sees you gathering the event's currency, "Seed Pods," by completing missions available in your journal. Collect enough pods and you can purchase a number of rewards including Elite Henchmen, a new "Spore Pod" Iconic Ability, and multiple plant-based base items.
The new Iconic Ability tosses a poison bomb at your enemy that will deal damage over the entire area. Multiple enemies in the blast will be given a debuff that eventually explodes to spread the poison to even more foes. The henchmen, obviously, provide some combat support and they get a boost to their damage during the event.
As a sidebar to the event, Daybreak has restructured their sales to address some confusion. Apparently, some event items have been on a continuous 50% discount. After a recent update brought them back to full price, players felt the costs were just randomly increased by 50%. The items have been placed back on sale during the first week of this event so you can snag them without the perceived "upcharge."
The full rewards list is available on the official event post.
