Speculation Abounds As Steam DB Notices Valve's Addition Of A "Valve Event Upload" Config App
Config app uploads can only be created by Valve, fueling speculation on an upcoming announcement.
Valve is obviously a big deal when it comes to digital distribution of PC games. Lately they've become a big deal in the world of portable gaming as the Steam Deck has skyrocketed in popularity. Those of us that have been around for a while also remember when they were one of the top tier software developers out there.
Obviously they still oversee some wildly popular games like CS:GO, but in recent years the company's been a bit quiet on the video game development front.
Could that be changing soon? Does Valve have a new title to show off (insert obligatory Half Life 3 reference here)? Could they have some new hardware related to the Steam Deck on the way?
Short answer: We don't know, but they seem to be up to SOMETHING a little bigger than normal.
Steam DB has noticed that Valve created a config app called "Valve Event Upload" and that config file is currently linked to three other packages with names that mean nothing to anyone at the moment, generic placeholder type names.
Since the public can't see all Steam developer tokens anymore, it's hard to see a lot of changes within Steam in an in-depth manner.
YouTuber Tyler McVicker has a great breakdown video on the "Valve Event Upload" and speculates that these types of config files are usually created for Valve to use for their own announcements (like hardware releases and sales).
Could Valve have a big announcement soon or will it end up just being nothing all that important?
