Spectre Divide Calls The New F2P Shooter "Your Next 10,000 Hour Obsession," Launching September 3rd
That's a bold claim, but it could be true if the Duality mechanic is useful enough.
If you missed our previous coverage of Spectre Divide and are a fan of tactical shooters, you may want to hit up our previous piece walking you through the concept. It's a bit nebulous at first. In short, Spectre Divide throws all the usual trappings of a tactical team shooter at you. Attack, defend, gear up, use abilities, all the usual content. Where things, well, split a little from the norm is the game's "Duality" mechanic.
You actually control two characters, not just one. You split your own character into a second copy that you can warp to at any time. This copy can also get you to hard to reach spots on the map since you throw a puck to where you want them to sit. They'll even warn you if they hear someone or if they are under attack.
The team at Mountaintop Studios even pulled in streamer and pro player Shroud to help them nail down the fun and competitive aspects to the game.
Today, Spectre Divide announced that the free-to-play game will launch into on Steam on September 3rd. Launch will feature 3v3 competitive gameplay, multiple maps and loadouts, and "Sponsors" (these define your ability kit), and yes, there will be progression included.
Spectre Divide will be available in the US, EU, Asia Pacific, and Australian regions. The launch trailer is below for those that haven't yet seen Spectre Divide.
