Soulframe Dev Stream Answers Player Questions About Prelude 9 And More
Find out what the devs learned from Prelude 8.
Today, Digital Extremes hosted a Soulframe dev stream featuring gameplay and offering players some insight into how things went during Prelude 8 as well as what to expect from Prelude 9. The devs also took some time to answer player questions.
The stream format is fairly loose with the devs having a bit of a discussion. It started out by addressing player concerns about the distribution of codes needed to access Preludes. Apparently, some players signed up very early and have yet to be chosen. This is apparently an issue with the script, which is intended to choose early signups more often but hasn’t. The devs are looking at fixing this as well as hoping to send out a larger number of codes for Preludes 9.
During the early part of the stream, the developers also explain how idols and abilities work in the MMORPG, as well as how the game’s intro has been changed. Initially, the introduction cutscenes were intended to all take place at the beginning, however, they found this delayed getting players into the gameplay too much and have elected to spread the content out.
Something interesting the devs pointed out is that players are apparently missing 75%-80% of loot in dungeons. They’re looking to fix distribution to improve this. Some other changes players can expect based on feedback from Prelude 8 address complaints about things like the game not offering guidance. Now, at the beginning, players will choose a path that will offer some guidance on important points. In addition, factions and mini-adventures kinda like Warframe bounties are being introduced to give players something to do. The devs are also fixing combat, introducing new loot, and more, based on player feedback.
Later in the stream, the developers did a little Q&A session. One of the things we learned from this is that the island will be made bigger. What players can currently access accounts for less than a third of the whole thing. We also now know that armor will have stats and slots. It will also eventually have a transmog option.
If loot distribution is confusing for you, the devs are working to fix that. On the topic of loot, someone also asked about inventory slots. Specifically, they wanted to know if that was something players will have to spend money on. At the moment the devs are still deciding whether or not players will need to purchase inventory slots. As they put it, they’re concerned about making the game fun now and figuring out monetization later.
