SolForge Shutting Down At The End of January
Free-to-play CCG SolForge is headed for the discard pile. Nearly three and a half years after its early access launch, Stone Blade Entertainment will close up shop on Jan. 31 -- but maybe not for good.
Stone Blade CEO Justin Gary broke the news earlier today, thanking players for their dedication and calling the community "one of the best I’ve ever seen in my 20 years in the gaming industry." Development on SolForge is ceasing immediately, but the servers will stay online until Jan. 31.
All might not be lost, though. Gary stated that his team learned a lot from making SolForge that they will apply to future games, "including future incarnations of SolForge." Those incarnations may not be too far in the future, if Gary's plans pan out:
"We remain passionate about the SolForge community and we are not done exploring the world of Solis. We are also speaking with potential partners who may be able to take over the SolForge IP and remain hopeful that SolForge will return one day, better than ever."
So maybe this isn't the ending of a chapter, but a new beginning for SolForge. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out.
