Snowy Battle Royale Game Darwin Project Goes Free-to-Play
Need another free-to-play battle royale game? Who doesn't! Now you can get your murder on in the frozen north of Scavenger Studios' Darwin Project for free, winning fame, glory, and (we hope) a warm winter coat.
Following a recent trend among battle royale games, Darwin Project has an overarching game show-esque setting, but this one has a few twists. One player is the Show Director, who can direct nuclear bombs, zone closures, and gravity storms throughout a match. The game also has a form of Twitch interaction enabled, letting spectators "become active participants in the manhunt!"
While Darwin Project appeared to be doing fairly well on Steam, with hundreds of players online at a time, the F2P announcement said that players were experiencing "longer queue times and difficulty finding matches in lesser populated servers." Players who previously paid for the early access game will receive the Founder's Pack bonus, which contains a number of goodies, by April 24.
Oh, and in case you were worried, the developers swear it won't be pay-to-win. Clearly, they have more confidence in their dev team than the makers of Bless Online.
