SNOW isn't your typical open world MMO
You've got to hand it to developers Poppermost Productions, many Free-to-Play devs today seem content mass producing theme park fantasy MMOs, MOBAs and futuristic shooters, but not Poppermost. In an act of sheer defiance, these devs have created SNOW, an open world MMO involving the very substance the name suggests.
While still in pre-alpha, the premise of SNOW is already appealing. I've never actually been skiing, so the idea of exploring the CryEngine 3 rendered mountainscapes with realistic physics and working lifts is tantalizing. I suppose part of the fun will simply be "stopping to smell the roses", or in this case the fresh powder. Players can just putz around on the mountains with their friends, doing tricks and having the sort of experience one might expect if they actually went to a ski lodge. That is, without the broken bones and with the skill of Shaun White.
As with any sports game, players will still get to participate in events and timed challenges for unique rewards. Now the devs just need to add the winter olympics to the list of available events. Biathlon anyone?
