Getting Scary Just In Time For Halloween: Smite To Add Celtic Deity Cliodhna To The Roster
It's pronounced "Cleena".
Well, it looks like Smite decided to add a slightly scarier deity to the Battleground of the Gods just in time for the spooky season. The next in line to be added to the roster is a physical damage Celtic assassin who just so happens to be the Queen of the Banshees – you know, the scary ladies with the deadly screams?
It seems that Cliodhna (pronounced: Cleena) has been attracted to the battlefield by all the death that has resulted from the war between Tiamat and Gilgamesh. It’s funny how these things have consequences, and yet, it seems it will be Merlin that’s going to be dealing with that bit of fallout.
The Titan Forge team took inspiration from both the normal depiction of banshees in general – as terrifying, unkempt creatures with torn clothing and hair, as well as the more fair description of Cliodhna herself, who is also often associated with love. The latter doesn’t make her any less scary but is intended to complement that aspect.
As is the case with most new Smite gods, the developers have provided some insight into what went into Cliodhna’s creation. And, of course, we have a shiny new video to introduce her.
On a related note – in that it has to do with Smite – the Smite team has partnered with Slipknot to give away tickets to Knotfest 2021. They’ll be giving away four tickets per show on the tour. Those interested in winning a ticket can enter here. This is one of those things where the more you social, the more entries you get. So, keep that in mind.
