It's mid-season time in Hi-Rez's free-to-play MOBA, SMITE. Released today, the Mid Season Patch introduces significant gameplay changes as well as a new god for the Chinese Pantheon, Erlang Shen. Similar to another Chinese God, Sun Wukong, Erlang Shen has the ability to transform into other animals -- in this case a mink and a turtle. Each have their own benefits. The Mink deals damage to the first god it hits and offers an attack speed boost after transforming back. The turtle damages all enemies in its path and provides a health shield after transforming back.

The update also kicks off the Summer of SMITE. For the next two months, new content and bonus rewards will be released each week. Players will also get a free Enigma treasure chest for each item they buy from the store -- the first of which will be unlockable skins for Bellone and Khepri. New Relics have been introduced, as have object changes and various god changes.

As mentioned, there are new god skins; the two mentioned above as well as new skins for Fenrir, Skadi, and Erlang Shen. Thor received a new Heavy Metal card, and Khepri got an adorable new avatar.

Hi-Rez dropped another bit of good news today... for those of you with a preference for playing on Macs. That's right. The game has finally arrived on OSX and can now be played on MacBook (Air/Pro), iMac, Mac Pro, and Mac Mini computers that meet the game's specs.
