Smite Announces 2022 Community And Content Creator Cups
Community cup signups are open to everyone.
The Hi-Rez Showcase, and the accompanying Smite World Championship, are drawing closer with both events scheduled to take place on January 6, 2022. Of course, fans can expect the normal fare from the (still) online event – tournaments, cosplay contests, panels, and the like. This year also offers a bit extra on the tournament side of things. In addition to the SWC, Hi-Rez has announced they’ll be hosting two other tournaments, a Community Cup and a Content Creator Cup. Both offer cash prize pools – although the Content Creator Cup is for charity.
The Community Cup is open to all Smite players and will allow for up to 256 teams to participate (128 NA and 128 EU). Signups are on a first come first served basis, which means you don’t have to worry about qualifiers, but you will have to be on the ball signing up if you’d like in. At the end of the tournament, the best NA team will face the best EU team to compete for first and second place. Third place will be determined by pitting the runner up in each region against each other. Since there will be quite a few teams, each match will be determined with one round. And yes, as mentioned, there’s a cash prize pool of $20,000 USD. Signups begin on December 13.
As for the Content Creator Cup, 20 content creators will play against each other in the new Season 9 Slash Map for a chance to win a portion of $35,000US for their charity of choice. The tournament will take place over three days with the final taking place on January 9th.
