Smilegate's FPS CrossfireX Is Now Available For Xbox Consoles
Multiplayer is free, and you can purchase single-player campaigns created by Remedy Entertainment.
Smilegate's launching all the games this week. Lost Ark players are currently enjoying the game's head start period, with full launch coming tomorrow, February 11, and today CrossfireX also went live on current- and last-gen Xbox consoles, bringing the mega-popular-in-Asia shooter to Western shores.
CrossfireX's multiplayer modes are available to all players for free. You can also purchase the Ultimate Edition of the game for $29.99 to receive two story modes, Operation Catalyst and Operation Spectre, developed by Remedy Entertainment, as well as the first season of the battle pass and Gatling Gun Gold Wing. Operation Catalyst is also available for free to Xbox Game Pass members, and both operations can be purchased separately for $9.99 apiece.
Early reviews for the game seem to be mixed, with a lot of "it's not perfect, but it's fun" comments, as well as more than a few that are, shall we say, less positive:
After ~6 hours with the game I’m almost at a loss for words. I have no idea how this game was cleared for release. Some truly unforgivable game design, performance issues, etc. Unbelievable. https://t.co/ryrZestQ1O

That one comes from IGN reviewer Travis Northup, but there are plenty of other non-professionals out there voicing similar opinions. At the very least, we'd suggest you try the free version of the game before plunking down cash on it. And if Northup's take is shared by enough people, then it might finally be time for Smilegate to realize that it needs to stop trying to make Crossfire work in North America, which it's been trying to do for over six years.
