Single-Player Mobile JRPG Written By Chrono Trigger Author Launches On PC
If, like me, you're a fan of some of turn-based JRPGs and have maybe been missing the likes of Chrono Trigger, we may actually have just the thing for you. As it turns out, a mobile game titled Another Eden launched on Steam yesterday. This single-player JRPG features a story created by Masato Kato, who was responsible for Chrono Trigger's narrative. It even boasts music from Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda as well as Luminous Arc 2's Shunsuke Tsuchiya, and art direction from BINCHOTAN's Takahito Exa.
There are also cats.
Much like the Chrono games, Another Eden takes players on an adventure through both space and time, traveling from the distant past to the far-flung future. The main character finds themselves thrown into this adventure when their home is destroyed and they embark on a journey to change these events and fix their world.
Among other features included in Another Eden are a turn-based battle system, gauge-based special attacks, individual character quests, and a variety of story settings including a dream-like school and the adventures of a wandering cat.
Of course, since this is a mobile game, that means some sort of monetization mechanics. In this case, we're dealing with gacha -- which is how you will acquire some of the characters. Of course, some characters are obtained simply by playing the game's main story, which consists around 26 chapters. This does not include side quests. There are about 23 of those.
The game is free to download via Steam now.
