At some point in the near future, Portalarium promises players will be able to begin exploring the overworld map of Mistrendur in Shroud of the Avatar. According to the game's latest newsletter, this will take place "sometime" during Release 74 when the devs roll out Episode 2 content.

To get players ready for the new content, Portalarium is preparing details on the location selection process for Player Owned Town reservations in the new continent. This will cover both establishing a new town or moving one from Novia or the Hidden Vale. Of course, not all content will be available as soon as the content goes live, the developers will roll out more as the year goes on.

I read a little of their post for 2020 and it didn't seem to mention unless i missed it in my speed read about the engine in there, nor did I see say anything about the map based system changing to an open world base. I do believe that their so called 12% stayers and their 88% leavers that the leavers are just annoyed as me as to what this game really is. I think Richard Garriott's gang needs to look back at his last attempt to make Ultima a full immersive game through open world exploration and play, rather than this poor thing that's sticking to maps upon maps rather than a true open world that enriches players experiences of the world they are trying to portray.
So POTS problem is with its 88% of leavers is its not an open world and not a good engine for displaying great graphics.
