Senior VP Laura Naviaux Departs Daybreak As It Tries To Distance Itself From Columbus Nova
The first head has rolled at Daybreak Game Company, which has been put in scramble mode since yesterday's "revelation" that it was never owned by Columbus Nova. Senior VP of Global Marketing and Sales Laura Naviaux has left the company, according to her Twitter, which was retweeted by none other than John Smedley:
Moving on! The next adventure awaits...I’ll drop some info soon. #newbeginnings #staygaming

Speaking of Naviaux and Smedley, I revisited the interview I did with them back in 2015, shortly after the acquisition (by somebody, I guess) of Sony Online Entertainment. I never made so many "errors" in a single article, and I wish someone at Daybreak would have told me about them!
Of course, in that same interview Smedley also all but guaranteed that EverQuest Next would launch, so ... yeah.
While the original press release announcing the acquisition has been removed from the Daybreak site (but archived here), you can still find mention of it on the forums for PlanetSide 2 and EverQuest 2, which house identical statements.
Today, we are pleased to announce that we have been acquired by Columbus Nova, an investment management firm well known for its success with its existing portfolio of technology, media and entertainment focused companies.
On a final note, when even Derek Smart seems to have more legitimacy than you do, you know you've messed up.
