Second Life Turns 21
Of course the celebration is one big party.
Second Life – probably one of the weirdest MMOs in existence aside from Eve Online or The Forest – is turning 21. That’s right, it’s finally old enough to do all the stuff it’s been doing anyway. To celebrate the big event Lindin Research is hosting music events and other performances in the social game. There’s also a big shopping event featuring 480 merchants across 24 regions. (Keep in mind the merchants are other players.)
The music, performances, and shopping are all already underway. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of time to catch the performances, as they’ll end on July 1. The shopping, however, players have a full month to take advantage of. It makes sense as there are so many vendors to hit up.
In addition to the above, Second Life’s birthday party also includes Town Halls and a Community Roundtable where players can meet some of Linden Research’s staff, including Executive Chairman Oberwolf Linden and various team leads.
Aside from that, the Second Life team is also hosting an exhibitor showcase featuring 310 exhibits themed around “Elements”. As with the shopping, the exhibits will be located in multiple regions – 20 to be precise. A rather full Google Calendar of the festivities can be found on the Second Life site.
