Season 7 Will Be The Last One For Battlefield 2042 As The Team Shifts To The Future Of The Franchise
Enjoy the final season of Battlefield 2042.
EA has released a statement addressing the future of Battlefield 2042, and it looks like we're in the final season for the shooter. While new challenges, events, modes, and maintenance will continue for the game, Season 7 will be the last official season.
"We know this news may be disappointing. However, as we looked at what the future of the series required, it became clear it was time for us to shift our resources and focus to be fully dedicated to what comes next," says the statement.
With that being said, the eyes of EA are on the future of the franchise as they have begun building a Battlefield-focused team over at Motive Studios, the devs behind the Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons. Motive joins DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect "in building a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer experiences and single-player".
What exactly is next for the Battlefield franchise remains a secret for now, with Battlefield GM Byron Beede simply stating that he looks forward to the day he can tell us more.
