Season 7 In New World: Aeternum Kicks Off Season Servers When The Update Drops On January 21st
Only a month to go before New World fans get new content, well, kind of.
Late last month we received our first peek at what the New World: Aeternum team had planned for the MMORPG's future in a post-console-launch world. PC players in particular were pretty interested in the final revealed roadmap as they have been waiting on "new" content since basically mid-this year at this point.
As I said during the reveal, if you're a PvP player, you may be looking forward to Season 7. Not so much if you're primarily a PvE fan.
Today we get more specifics about Season 7 and we also now know that the season will start on January 21st. That means you have about a month to wait.
The largest "new" feature coming is the addition of season servers. These fresh start servers will have special rulesets that alter the way you would typically play the game. Season 7's are PvP focused as players will be flagged starting at level 15. There's new resources and gear to be had on the server, and some powerful perks are there, but you can lose it all if you happen to be killed in the world. Yep, they drop. When the season ends you can transfer your character to a regular server if you like.
On the Outpost Rush side of PvP, there will be a test weekend for the upcoming "Coral Divide" map.
The above isn't to say there's NOTHING for PvE players, but it just isn't a lot. For instance, M3 expeditions are getting Activity Finder integration to ease getting into the content, rewards have had some upgrades, and Mutations have been unified. Expeditions receive some bug fix love, too. Nice, but none of it is really "new content."
A new season obviously comes with new artifacts, new events, a new season pass and rewards, and a slew of issues being fixed. Hit up the full post to get the details on those and enjoy a look behind the scenes at the creation of the MMO's soundtrack if you're so musically inclined.

Will this all end up being "too little, too late," though, for the "we hear you" post?
There’s apparently a lot to look forward to.
Aphrodite, Medusa, and Pele have arrived.
Yeah, sure, you can buy some. I'm talking about what you get for just playing.
