After A Rocky Launch And Years Of Improvements, Sea Of Thieves Celebrates 40 Million Player Milestone
This milestone was by no means a sure thing with how things started.
Sea of Thieves is days away from launching on the PlayStation 5, but before that even happens, the game’s executive producer Joe Neate has some news. Following the launch of the pirate-themed MMO on the Xbox, the game has crossed the 40 million player mark. That’s across Xbox, Windows 10, and Steam.
Of course, this announcement doesn’t specify if these are currently active players or just registered accounts (it has to be registered accounts, in our opinion), but either way, 40 million is a big number, and if nothing else it’s an indicator that meeting the players where they’re at, on their platform of choice, is a good thing.
While the Sea of Thieves team is working toward that PS5 launch, they also want to celebrate this milestone and are reminding players that a Gold & Glory Weekend is coming up, during which time players can earn boosted Renown, gold, reputation, and other rewards.
