Rust's Rail System Gets Overhaul To Make Traveling Between Above And Below Ground Easier
The above-ground rail network has been integrated with the underground.
The train system might suck in your city, but it’s working just fine in Rust.
In the latest update for the first-person survival game, you can look forward to the integration of the above-ground rail network with the underground — creating a seamless travel experience between the two. Rail tunnels on servers with specific world sizes enable players to switch networks effortlessly, and all wagon types are now compatible.
Visual enhancements have been made to address issues like light leaks and fine-tune the overall experience as well. Also, the functional underground train signals inform players about the conditions on the track, with green signals indicating a clear path, red signaling obstructions, and yellow alerting them to upcoming obstacles, and the "blocks" between signals now divide the track.
There’s also the Wire Tool Reconnect feature, making circuit redesign more user-friendly by allowing players to reconnect existing wires. This update streamlines the process of circuit configuration and layout changes, saving players time and effort. Additionally, the introduction of item placement on vehicles brings greater utility to in-game transportation, enabling players to carry items on various vehicles without losing them.
Besides the enhanced rail system, the Observer Island custom map — crafted by community members — is now accessible by server owners. It introduces new map features and custom monuments to the survival game.
