Rust's Primitive Update Lets You Medieval It Up While Trying To Survive

Things may look medieval, but sometimes things aren't how they appear.

You're probably used to running around in Rust and scavenging whatever you can to survive while running and gunning from those that want to take your latest finds. I'm not saying you can't still do that, but I am saying that if you ever wanted to mix in some medieval role playing while in the survival game, damn is the latest update for you.

If running around in helmets and shields while using crossbows and swords is your thing, you can do it up. However, if you maybe just like the medieval look of things but still want the benefits of more modern weaponry, you can do that as well. I mean, look at the trailer below and see castle battering rams made from backhoes and a bejeweled assault rifle. It's actually kind of hysterical.

The new "Primitive" update does add in a new "Primitive Gamemode" though for those of you that want things to stay in the past. You won't be getting machine guns here. Instead you need need to use catapults, siege weapons, and all things blacksmith-ed all with a slight "modern" flair.

It only makes sense that this update also adds a full revamp of how horses work in Rust. You should find that movement mechanics have been improved and their impact on server performance is better, too.

If you want a few nifty skins, the Medieval DLC pack is also available now for $12.99.

I actually couldn't help but laugh as I watched the trailer below.
