Runeterra MMO Game Devs Tweet A Map And Legends Of Runeterra Character Concepts, Fans Speculate
It could be nothing, it could be something. But either way, it gives players something to ponder over.
When gamers are stuck in that weird space where they’re just waiting on their “next big game” to happen, there are only so many ways to keep themselves entertained. Of course, they could just play another game until the one they’re waiting on comes out. But where’s the fun in that when they can analyze everything the developers post in hopes of uncovering information about the upcoming game?
That’s exactly what’s been going on this weekend since some Riot devs, Mark Yetter, Game Director of the upcoming Runeterra MMO and Riot Principal Concept Artist Christopher Campbell, dropped a couple of interesting visuals on Twitter. The first tweet came from Yetter and was a map (seen above) showing about ten different locations from the Runeterra universe. The map included Freljord, Noxus, Demacia, Piltover, Zaun, Targon, Shurima, Ionia, Bilgewater, and the Shadow Isles and was accompanied with the text, “So many places to go, people to see…” Yeeter also added that at the time it was “one of those head exploding with creativity days”. An accompanying tweet added “Ixtal, Icathia, Candle City, and more of course” to the list of places not already in the image.

Just brimming with possibility. Today is one of those head exploding with creativity days. pic.twitter.com/KebWVN1FfH

Campbell’s tweets, not shockingly, were character art. In this case, they were some of Sion’s followers, including concepts for the Ancient Warmonger, Reckoners, and Riders. In this case, there wasn’t really a message about the images, other than it being something different from the “fuzzy Yordle” stuff.
Annnnnnnd for a little different flavor from all the fuzzy Yordle fun, here are Sion's followers! Hope everyone has an awesome weekend! pic.twitter.com/U0kpKic9Vy

Of course, the lack of extreme details hasn’t stopped players from surmising that both these tweets are teasers for things to expect from the MMO. There’s a whole Reddit thread dedicated to it, if you want to get in on the fun, and honestly, it’s not unlikely that they’re right. I mean, it’s one of two things: Either this is just stuff for other games or it is for the MMO and the devs aren’t as sly as they think they are.
