RuneScape Developer Jagex Raises Over $300k For Mental Health Charities
This morning, Jagex Game Studio -- makers of the RuneScape franchise -- revealed that it raised over £225,000 ($305k USD) for its 12-month long Charitable Giving Initiative with the help of players. The funds exceed the original £150,000 goal by £75,000 and will go to three mental health focused charities: YMCA Right Here, CPSL Mind, and The Prince's Trust.
Jagex spent the year raising money through a charity fundraising page coupled with in-game content sales. They also spent the duration of the fundraising period working to provide their own employees with mental health benefits by providing resources both at work and away.
The company announced the success of their fundraising efforts via Twitter as a way to kick off Mental Health Awarness week.
