Roll Out! First Transformers Universe Footage Appears

Are we tired of Transformers yet? No, just the Michael Bay movies? Good.

You may remember that Jagex promised a Transformers MMO early last year. At the time we had not been subjected to the torture that is Transformers: Dark of the Moon and so we eagerly awaited the MMO. Fast forward almost two years and oh how the world has changed. For the most part it felt like the universe had had its fill of Transformers and all seemed to be quiet. But just like an explosion from a Michael Bay film, Jagex abruptly released some actual in-game footage of their Transformer MMO and suddenly people began to care once more.

The trailer above features gratuitous amounts of robots in badass stances, robots holding various weapons, robots turning into cars, and of course robots fighting robots. For a browser game, the graphics are actually quite good. Other than what we have seen in the trailer we still know essentially nothing about the MMO or how it plays. With a projected release date of 2012 though I suspect we will find out soon.

Beta registration is now open but no word as to when the beta tests will actually begin. My hunch is some time late October or early November. Will you be giving the Transformer MMO a spin? Which side will you be choosing?

Editor's Note: I just realized the trailer shows 2013 as the launch year and not the original predicted 2012. I suspect the beta will still begin late this year though.
