Rocket League Kicks Off Season 2 Next Week With New Neon-Lit Arena And Musical Rewards
Rocket League's second season since going free-to-play kicks off next Tuesday, Dec. 8, and it brings with it a new Rocket Pass, new arena, and additional ways to customize your car. Next week's update will also include some significant enhancements for Rocket League players on the new Xbox consoles.
The new Rocket Pass has over 70 levels of rewards to offer, headlined by the new R3MX car that purchasers of the pass can get at level 1, with the R3MX GMT waiting at level 70. Other rewards include the usual mix of goal explosions, car toppers, and decals, and some items "will pulse and flash to the beat of the menu and Arena music."
The new arena is the high-tech dance floor-inspired Neon Fields. Fittingly, there are additional musical rewards coming with the update, such as player anthems and new tunes from electronic music label Monstercat and Kaskade. If it's visuals you prefer, you'll be pleased to know that the Xbox Series X and Series S versions of the game will receive enhancements that let Rocket League run at 120 frames per second -- if you're willing to sacrifice a little of your HD resolution.
Finally, Psyonix will be adding Rocket Labs, a showcase for experimental limited-time modes throughout the season. That will hit servers later in Season 2, which kicks off at 4 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 8. Learn more about the upcoming season on the Rocket League or Xbox sites.
