Roblox Offers Texas-Themed Hats To Support Hurricane Harvey Relief
Hurricane Harvey devastated wide swaths of southeastern Texas. People from all across the world are pitching in to help with the relief efforts, as well as several game developers.
The Roblox Corporation, makers of the popular free-to-play building game, is one of those conscientious companies. For a limited time, you can purchase two Texas-themed hats in Roblox -- the Texas Rodeo Hat for 10 Robux and Wild West Ranger Hat for 100 Robux -- and 100% of the gross proceeds will go to nonprofit organization Direct Relief. These hats will be offered until Sept. 13 or until they've raised $25,000 in sales.
While Direct Relief is an international organization, offering aid in 70 countries worldwide, Roblox says that:
"In Texas, they are focusing on helping people who are most vulnerable, extending the reach of relief, and bolstering front-line responders. The entirety of your donation will go directly towards their on-the-ground efforts, providing people and communities in Texas with medical care and much-needed emergency supplies."
So if you're in the mood to spend some money in a free-to-play game this weekend, you can do so and also help victims of Hurricane Harvey. Here's hoping we won't need similar promotions for Florida next week ...
