Riot Has No Plans To Port LoL To Consoles Or Mobile
League of Legends has done pretty well for itself on PCs and Macs, but there has to always be the temptation for more. With its action-y controls, it would seem to be a viable candidate for a console port, and maybe even tablets, like some MOBAs have done.
But the king of the MOBA scene has no plans to go in that direction. Following the announcement of a deal between Tencent -- which Riot is a subsidiary of -- and Microsoft, there was some speculation that an Xbox One port could be in the offing, but Riot quickly slammed the door on that talk. According to a Riot representative:
"Today’s announcement mentioning League of Legends has generated a lot of speculation in the LoL player community. We’d like to clarify that our focus is on making sure League plays great on Mac and PC. No plans for console, mobile or other platforms at this time."
That's good news if you're a current desktop player of League, but it's maybe a little disappointing if you prefer a different gaming platform. And, considering how mobile is taking off, it's more than a little surprising, especially when one considers how big League is Asia, where mobile is king. Of course, plans can and do change...
What do you think? Would you like to see LoL on consoles or mobile? Or should it stay on PC and Mac?
