Riot Games Wants League Players To Vote For Their Favorite Charity
As part of League of Legends' 10th-anniversary celebration, Riot Games recently raised $6 million USD for charity by selling the game's 1000th skin, Dawnbringer Karma. Now, the developer wants players to help decide where that money is to go by voting for their favorite regional charity. The funds will be divided between 46 nonprofit organizations worldwide, but players will be able to decide how it's broken up.
Beginning today, and running until April 23rd, players can log into the LoL client and vote for one of three nonprofits in their region. The organization that comes out with the most votes in each region will be given 50% of the money allotted for their regional charity pool. The other two will receive 25% each. All charities are guaranteed a minimum of $10,000. So, don't worry. It's not about making any of the charities lose out, it's just about helping the one you believe has contributed most to your community receive a bit more.
A full list of all the eligible charities is available on the League of Legends site -- just in case you're curious about all the places the money will be going.
