Riot Games Shares Preview Of What’s Coming For League Of Legends In 2024, And Meet Smolder!
The new season, esports, and more.
League of Legends Season 2024 is kicking off with Riot Games dropping a video detailing what players can expect throughout the year for the MOBA. The video, which is a little under half an hour long, covers everything from ranked and champions to esports and anti-cheat. Perhaps the most timely thing is the reveal that Season 2024 officially begins in just five days, on January 10.
While players have to wait until November for Arcane Season 2, the devs do offer players some insight into it, revealing that in celebration of the upcoming season, Ambessa Medarda will be making their way to the Rift. The same update will also include Arcane-inspired gameplay, a champion update, and more.
Then you've got mastery changes to look forward to, as well.
The first half of 2024 will bring back Arena – with improvements. These include increasing the number of teams in a game from four teams of two to eight teams of two. UI changes will be implemented as well.
As for esports, the winning team at MSI is now guaranteed a spot at Worlds. That spot will also be an additional spot for their region. Riot is also introducing the LoL Esports Hall of Legends to honor “those who have made a lasting impact on the game, the sport, and the community”.
