Riot Games Co-Founder Marc Merrill Takes On Chief Product Officer Role
Merrill will oversee all products at the company.
Today, Riot Games announced that co-founder and former co-CEO Marc Merrill will be taking on the role of Chief Product Officer (CPO). In this role, he will oversee all the products at the company. As the press release puts it, Merrill will “lead the vision for the ecosystems surrounding each game while helping solidify [their] future paths. This includes League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, and R&D.
The new role is intended to address the company’s product strategy following the growth of the last five years. In addition, Merrill’s job will be to ensure that everything is up to standard and attracts players. The press release included esports in the list.
In additional news, Riot Community Manager Dylan Gafner announced that he will be leaving the company to focus on “health and family”. His last day is scheduled to be December 1.
Sad to say, but recently put in my resignation at Riot. My final day on the job is this Friday, Dec 1.
The decision wasn’t made lightly. I’ll be shifting focus to health and family for some time ahead.
In the end, it’s just a matter of poor timing.
