Ralph Lauren’s Collab With Fortnite Has The Brand Ditching The Iconic Horse For A Cartoon Llama
Not sure what the fashion gurus have to say about this.
Ralph Lauren’s iconic logo has been redesigned with a cartoon llama after the latest Fortnite collab. Fortnite players can get two in-game Ralph Lauren-designed outfits that will be available in the Fortnite item shop starting on November 5. Those who want to show their support for Fortnite or Ralph Lauren outside of the game can buy IRL clothing like hats, hoodies, and polo shirts.
The company also shared that it is in the process of creating a physical version of the boot the in-game characters are wearing which will be available to purchase in the future. The digital outfits showcase Ralph Lauren’s signature style, while the physical collection translates the outfits into the real world. As for the logo, Ralph Lauren says that this is the first time it has been redesigned like this, which it says is “a testament to the company’s belief in the power of the metaverse.”
I am all for creative collaboration and blending high fashion with the realm of gaming, but at times I wonder if a line is crossed falling more into cosmetics then fashion when it comes to IRL designs.
