Rainbow Six Extraction Launches January 20, Pre-orders Available Now
Each edition comes with two 14-day Buddy Passes so you can play with your friends.
A lot of games have been looking to extract themselves out of January and launch in the coming year's second month (or later). That's not the case with Rainbow Six: Extraction, as Ubisoft's co-op shooter announced a January launch window earlier this year and is sticking to it, with a planned launch date of January 20, 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Amazon Luna, Stadia, and the Ubisoft Store on PC.
As you might recall, Rainbow Six Extraction casts players as elite R6 operators tasked with infiltrating locations that have been taken over by a deadly alien threat, the Archaeans, and rescuing the survivors of their attacks -- which could include your own operators from previously failed missions.
A video released alongside the launch day announcement talks about the game's 18 operators, who should be familiar to players of Rainbow Six Siege, as well as the game's progression and gear. On the one hand, it's neat how they've adapted the R6S operators and their abilities to a new environment; on the other hand, it also feels a little bit like Ubisoft just plopped existing characters into a new game, even if they do have a few new toys.
You can pre-order the Standard Edition of Rainbow Six Extraction for $39.99 or splurge for the Deluxe Edition for $49.99. (PS4 and PS5 pre-orders start November 17.) Either pre-order will net you the Orbital Decay Cosmetic bundle, while the Deluxe Edition comes with three additional bonus packs. Both versions of the game also come with Buddy Passes that you can hand out to two friends so they can join you in the game for 14 days.
