Rainbow 6 Extraction Puts You In The Battle Against Earth's Greatest Threat Ever
MIA mechanic has you extracting operators you lost on the last mission.
Ubisoft revealed a new trailer for multiplayer co-op shooter Rainbow Six Extraction yesterday at the PlayStation Showcase, and today there's a blog piece to accompany the visuals, explaining more about the world and your role in it.
In R6E, operatives will face "the greatest terror our world has ever seen: a lethal, mutating alien threat." The parasitic alien lifeform is collectively known as the Archaeans, and they've taken over several parts of the United States. Your goal is to go in, blow s*** up, and rescue any survivors of the Archaeans' attack.
Solo players or teams of three will face a variety of different challenges in each incursion, with the risk -- and potential rewards -- increasing as they advance. Push too far, though, and you might not extract successfully. If that happens, your operator goes MIA and you can't play them again until you mount a rescue mission. And if you fail that ... well, you'll still somehow rescue your missing operator. Just make sure to give them a chest X-ray to make sure nothing's going to burst out of their abdomen.
Progression comes in the form of new operators, customization elements, tech (weapons, gadgets, abilities, etc.), and more. For even greater challenge, there's Maelstrom Protocol, a ranked mode that serves as a form of endgame content.
Rainbow Six Extraction arrives in January 2022.
