Quake Champions' December Update Adds Battle Pass, New Progression, And CTF Map
Next to battle royales, battle passes seem to be all the rage these days. Not wanting to miss out on the trend, Bethesda Softworks is getting into the act, with the announcement of a battle pass for Quake Champions, along with a progression revamp and a "new" capture-the-flag mode.
The Quake Champions Battle Pass will have 100 tiers and offer all the usual perks to purchasers: additional skins, shaders, vanities, icons, nameplates, currency, and loot boxes, along with "an additional, immediate in-game bonus item." Free players will also get rewards, though at a lesser pace. They'll also have daily and weekly to earn even more loot, with an additional weekly challenge for Battle Pass purchasers. The initial season will last for about three months.
Quake Champions' Battle Pass will cost 1,000 Platinum and will come out with the December 20 update for the game, which will also remove the ability to earn Backpacks and Chests. Instead, players will earn a new type of currency, Shards, which can be used to unlock additional cosmetic items for champions, as well as the champions themselves. Learn more about the changes in a dev blog and FAQ on the Quake Champions website.
Finally, classic Quake-style Capture The Flag will also make its return in the December update. A specially designed Citadel map will play host to the fragfest, with inspiration drawn from Quake Live's "Stone Keep." Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
