Omeda Studios is ready to take the beta tag off of their third-person MOBA Predecessor. While players have been able to check out the game in multiple testing phases throughout the last year, things really picked up when the game hit an open beta back in March. Since then, over 1 million players have tried the game.

While more recent Steam reviews have been coming in at "Mixed", Predecessor sits at an overall "Mostly Positive" on the digital distribution platform. The mixed rating reviews seem to mention quite a bit of quitting mid-match going on, so that's something I expect would be addressed pretty quickly.

While the MOBA started as an attempt to revive Epic Games' Paragon after the company gave the UE4 assets to the community, Predecessor has taken things far beyond just a "revival." With maps, heroes, and even mechanics receiving a massive overhaul, Predecessor retains a bit of the original Paragon inspiration, but evolves it in many ways.

Launch will include over 35 playable characters, crossplay functionality between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and shooter-focused gameplay in a MOBA world. Interestingly, Predecessor will be the only available MOBA created in Unreal Engine 5 so far...at least until SMITE 2 fully releases.

Predecessor is free-to-play and currently in open beta on all above platforms.
