Pokemon Unite Hits Nintendo Switch Next Week
On July 21, the Pokemon universe will officially have a MOBA game in its lineup. Pokemon Unite, the (eventually) cross-platform game from Tencent and TiMi Studios, will launch on Nintendo Switch, giving players the opportunity to play as their favorite Pokemon in 5v5 battles. Mobile launch is planned for sometime in September -- at which point, cross-platform play may be available. They say it's "planned" since the launch announcement states that players will be able to use their saved game data on any device as long as it's tied to their Nintendo or Pokemon Trainer Club account, the issue seems to me more a matter of 'when' than 'if'.
As part of their launch plans, the Pokemon Unite team is offering players who log into the game on Switch by August 31 a special Pokemon, Zeraora's Unite. Zeraora is an Electric-type Mythical Pokemon with some serious speed-based advantages as well as an ability that sends out an electrical blast.
