PlanetSide 2's Construction System Will Get An Overhaul So Builders Can Make Bases That Players Enjoy Fighting At
This "tedious" system is getting a much-needed makeover.
For PlanetSide 2's first major update of 2023, Rogue Planet Games will focus their efforts on overhauling the game's seven-year-old Construction System. It has often been seen as "difficult" over the years, so the devs aim to lower the barrier of entry for players and improve it overall.
Rogue Planet announced the upcoming overhaul on the PlanetSide 2 website, detailing an extensive list of changes and reasons behind them. For those not in the know, the Construction System debuted in 2016 to fill the "in-between spaces" around the game world. With this system, players gained several pieces and control over a base's layout, adding diversity to different playstyles and requiring some map know-how.
That said, it has been "difficult" for many. According to the devs, players saw it as "borderline tedious to participate in as a defender," which led to some frustrating firefights with attackers. For this overhaul, Rogue Planet will "allow builders to develop bases that non-builders enjoy fighting at" and will reduce the barrier of entry for players looking to mess around with the system.
A small quality-of-life patch went out today for the "Capture the Conduit" mode and weapon fixes before the overhaul gets implemented. Players can also pick up Lunar New Year 2023 cosmetics, including an NS-61 "Jackrabbit" Emissary sidearm and a Year of the Rabbit banner.
