PlanetSide 2's Arsenal Update Makes A Bunch Of Weapon Changes, Adds 800 Attachments
Includes "many sweeping changes that will broadly impact the balance of certain weapon archetypes."
How many weapon attachments is too many weapon attachments? Does 800 sound about right? That's the number that Rogue Planet Games added to PlanetSide 2 in today's Arsenal Update, and they were compiled into a spreadsheet that the update notes said presented the info "in quite possibly the most anxiety inducing way imaginable." Hey, I ain't afraid of no spreadsheet; you might even say I excel at creating them. *insert laugh track here*
In addition to the attachments, the update includes "many sweeping changes that will broadly impact the balance of certain weapon archetypes." These come in six broad categories, affecting directive weapons, sniper rifles, power knives, sidearms, select fire modes, and shotguns.
There's also a long list of changes to several dozen individual infantry weapons. Vanu Sovereignity players will have the most adjusting to do, since there's a new formula for their heat-based weapons. Rogue Planet admits that the changes it's made "are very strict and will likely need tuning."
Today's update also adds the long-awaited functionality of letting NSO outfits migrate their members to a home faction. Speaking of factions, each one (including NSO) gets a new faction-specific mine and Basilisk vehicle top gun option, while four classes get grenades usable exclusively by that class.
