PlanetSide 2's 2022 Roadmap Includes Return Of Outfit Wars, Water Vehicle, And More
Rogue Planet Games vows to "do it big" for 10th anniversary late in the year.
There are few surfaces that would qualify as proper "roads" in PlanetSide 2, but that's not stopping Rogue Planet Games from issuing a roadmap of its content plans for the coming year. Lead Designer Michael "Wrel" Henderson said that the focus would be "on addressing long-standing requests from the community, refining the game's systems further, and polishing the game as a whole," though there were also plans for one much-requested feature returning to the game.
Outfit Wars will be back in PlanetSide 2 in the middle part of the year, offering a 1v1 format, with battles taking place on the continent of Nexus, which was teased all the way back in 2013 but never released. It's a "snow-themed continent with two Warpgates" that resembles a MOBA map, with three lanes to progress down. Of course, you don't have air vehicles in MOBAs.
With Oshur in play, more improvements are also on tap for water-based combat, including more underwater weapons and the first proper naval vehicle.
While most of the planned updates are scheduled to change, one that we can practically guarantee to go off on time, in the latter part of the year, is the 10th anniversary celebration of the game's launch. Wrel said that his team's "got plans to do it big," and when the PlanetSide 2 devs promise something big, they usually deliver.

Yeah, sure, you can buy some. I'm talking about what you get for just playing.
A significant part of the broken in-game mechanics is explained by the lack of lore/common sense. I wonder how the "Codex System" is going to make sense out of this. I expect plot holes, or that they'll just retcon a lá Blizzard-style.
