Pick An Island In The Sky And Make It Your Own Skyship In Aloft's Early Access Starting Today
I can't help but think of Skies of Arcadia and it makes me smile.
Funcom and Astrolabe Interactive Inc. think it's time to bring Aloft to a larger audience. While the cozy survival game has had previous test with just a single biome available to players, now it's time to open up the doors for an early access complete with 3 total biomes. That said, the team views this as just the beginning.
While I can't help but think about Skies of Arcadia when watching videos of cool island Skyships flying around, Aloft is certainly not an RPG. In a world of floating islands, you'll go pick the one you want to call home. Once there, it's time to start gathering resources, cooking, building, and modifying your island so you can fly it around and explore some more. Supporting co-op for up to 8 players, Aloft focuses on the community in a number of ways. Not only can you take your Skyship to join a friend's game, but you can even upload your build to the Steam Workshop for others to check out.
Just make sure your sails and gear can handle some stress since wind will be the "be-all-end-all" when it comes to traversing the skies to find that next big discovery.
As Aloft starts early access, the team's roadmap shifts immediately to addressing issues and bugs that may arise with the influx of players. However, as that settles down, Aloft will shift their focus towards adding new features such as a compass, the addition of cultivating livestock and taking care of things like bees, and (of course) even more biomes, building items, and character customization.
You can grab Aloft for $24.99 on Steam and get started right now.
