Dauntless Developer Phoenix Labs Lays Off Its Second Group Of Employees This Year
The employees were staff across HR, IT, and ‘shared service’ teams.
Another round of layoffs has hit Dauntless developer Phoenix Labs. This week the developer laid off a total of 34 employees from the HR, IT, and ‘shared service’ departments. This makes the second round of layoffs for the game company this year.
The news broke when those laid off began posting to LinkedIn. Since then, the layoffs have been confirmed by the company in a statement to GamesIndustry.biz. According to the statement, the development teams haven't been affected by the layoffs and they continue game production. The statement also thanks “each of the affected team members who have helped to build Phoenix Labs into what it is today”.
As noted this is the second round of layoffs. The first happened in May when they let about 9% of the staff go. More recently, the company’s CEO and COO stepped down as well. Effectively, there have been some significant changes at the company this year.
