Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Increases Level Cap, Adds New Photon Arts Weapons, And Introduces Compound Techniques
Most weapons will receive at least one new Photon Art.
Today, Sega dropped the latest Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis update adding a level cap increase to 45, new weapon Photon Arts, a DOLLS-inspired weapon series, and more. The update also includes new content in the game's newest region, Retem, with new High Ranked Sectors in the Alnothe Combat Sector. That means more PSE Burst farming areas. These new sectors will also feature new Urgent Quests containing enemies that increase the attack and defense of other enemies around them. Of course, if players can manage to take them down they'll receive a large amount of Meseta – and possibly the occasional Arms Refiner drop.
As for some of those weapons we mentioned, players will now be able to pick up DOLLS-themed Kukuhroziat weapons as drops from DOLLS in Aelio and Retem. This series of weapons is inspired by the look of DOLLS, but that’s not their only appeal. They also have a unique Weapon Potential that players will likely want in later content.
Accompanying the above additions to the game is a new Party Recruitment system that will help players find others to play with. Players can now recruit from the same Room using the Communications menu. Set the purpose and party requirements and a special icon will appear above your character letting others know you’re looking for companions to fight with.
The update also introduces dedicated photo rooms so players can get their fancy shots without having to worry about the random enemy photobomb or weather changes. This is also the update where the mag jukebox function is being added, allowing players to play their favorite songs one after another.
All of the new content, and some future content, were previewed recently in the latest NGS Headline stream. As always, you can watch that here on the site.
