Phantasy Star Online 2 Coming to North America and Europe

SEGA of America and SEGA Europe announced that free-to-play multiplayer action RPG Phantasy Star Online 2 will be coming to North America and Europe in 2013.

“Phantasy Star Online was a revolutionary game when it was released, and we want to make sure that its successor in the series is every bit as ambitious,” said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “We look forward to introducing Phantasy Star Online 2’s unique, easy-to-access multiplayer action to the rest of the world next year!”

“The number one thing we want to provide players in Phantasy Star Online 2 is an adventure that changes every time they log in. Just as great table-top RPG experiences revolve around imaginative and unexpected encounters, we want players to consistently be surprised as they explore dungeons and undertake quests,” added Satoshi Sakai, Phantasy Star Online 2 Producer at SEGA of Japan.

Over ten years have passed since the release of the Dreamcast hit, Phantasy Star Online, and SEGA is poised to continue the Phantasy Star series’ multiplayer legacy on PCs worldwide with Phantasy Star Online 2.

In the Year 238, the New Era of Light, players will join a new band of Arks in the fight against mysterious D-Arkers, embarking on another epic adventure of infinite possibilities! for all you people out there thinking this game sucks you're badly fooled by you're lack of dumbness to pass this game it's very fun addictive and you'll end up reaching the highest level in a few weeks if you play alot this game had alot of people on Xbox live playing it and now we are coming to pc to play this one so heads up when it comes available take a chance and download it since you have nothing to lose it's F2P

since those devs really have great minds to thought about such thing having an Open world action game...

I used wikipedia to pass the katakana log in captcha, just copy paste the symbols you need. Game is actually good just the annoying time based quests you need to beat in order to open new zones. Still no PVP and hope they add one since PSO 1 had it(not very fun with that game's combat system). You can buy everything in the cash shop on the purple signed "?" terminals(first option,again first option and teh button on the lowest window that popped up) for meseta(in game currency) as long as someone registers one so you can with the exception of the room I think and character slots. Can cahnge between the 3 classes everytime so if you're bored of running as a hunter then you acn start as a force or ranger. Game also has a guild system implemented but I haven't found much of what's the benefits on it.

can someone help me? ive set up my sega id and i get to the page with all the websites i click on PSO2 and it takes me to the log in page but i can log in cuz of the capcha and idk how to type in japanese. Can someone explain to me why my account isnt being registered?

UGH ...More obnoxiously huge swords. That's just annoying as s#*t. Especially the one at 2:26.

And this might be a good game but the trailer nearly put me to sleep. The first 1/3 of it is just "concept art" and there wasn't any action until 1/2 way through the video.

I've actually been looking forward to this game for a couple of years now, but I'm not sure I can get past those annoying weapons - it just looks so stupid and it's totally distracting.

If any of you actually played the previous versions you'll be more excited that its free to play who cares about the cash shop, i had 2 stacks thats 99mill, that took me a couple months to get so wont really matter

I'm downloading that JP OB right now. I literally cannot wait to play this game. I hear a lot of English players reside in Ship 2, block 20-22, and that it's often busy.

Huh, cool. I most likely won't be able to play it but I may follow news about it regardless. The only Phantasy Star one I ever played was on the DS and I enjoyed that one quite a bit. Probably won't stop me from trying to download it when it's out even though I am unsure about specs, eheh.

Haha. I LOVE that they made this official. I enjoyed the beta. The person above saying it's failing in Japan already probably should wait more than 5 days after the official Japan launch to say it is failing/succeeding or really any opinion on game player stats. The cash shop feedback so far has been most outlets laughing at the sheer number of ridiculous vanity items available, not anything game breaking so far. Whatever though. Some people are never happy with anything I guess. In the end we're talking about games and personal preferences though so it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme. :)

Either way, I LOVE this news!

Played beta, playing on JP servers.
Even without reading the language after you figure everything out its very intuative and clean.
If you like better combat than PSU with more of PSO charm (MAGs and even some rares return like SOUL EATER :D) you should feel right at home.

This game looks quite good, if its an open world and not instanced then its great, but 2013 is so far away, i hope 2012-12-21 world won't end cause if it does end then im gona rage. :)
